The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 4

1993 Mini Italian Job Edition
***NO RESERVE*** One of 153 thought to remain on UK roads, from the British allocation of just 1,000 units

Registration - K255 KMX

Chassis No - SAXXNYADBBD057440

M.O.T. - April 2024

Odometer - 28,854

This apparently very original Italian Job Special Edition Mini had had just one lady owner before being acquired by the vendor six years ago and happily, no, ‘the bloody doors have never been blown off’! Indeed, ‘K255 KMX’ remains to original specification, with Flame Red paintwork complemented by red-piped black tweed interior trim, and it even retains the rear window sticker and number plates of the supplying dealer, Beadles of East London and Kent. The vendor currently classes the 1275cc engine, four-speed transmission and electrics as ‘excellent’, the upholstery as ‘good’ and the bodywork and paintwork as ‘average’. He is now selling this rare classic Mini – one of only 153 thought to remain from the original UK allocation of 1,000 – complete with factory radio/cassette, sparewheel/tyre and tools, its original book pack, bill of sale, sales brochure, plus a current MOT valid to April 5 next year. The very modest indicated mileage of 28,864 appears to be supported by the car’s MOT history, and this collectors Mini is being offered at No Reserve.

Inspired by The Italian Job, a hit movie from 1969 starring Michael Cane, the special edition Mini Italian Job cars were produced in a choice of four colours – Flame Red, Metallic British Racing Green, Diamond White and Electric Blue. They feature body-coloured wing mirrors, white grilles and black bumpers and a variety of unique decals; black tweed interior trim; Italian flags on the steering wheel and front seats; tinted glass; twin driving lamps; and opening rear quarter windows. Power came from a version of the ubiquitous A Series engine. Only 1,750 examples of the edition were made – 1,000 for the UK market and 750 for Italy.

In summary:

  • Just two owners and an indicated 28,864 miles from new
  • An apparently very original example inside and out
