February 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 41

1993 Jaguar XJS Coupe 4.0
Only 18,000 miles from new, previously part of the the extensive Jaguar collection of Doctor James Hull

Registration - K632 KDU

Chassis No. - SAJJNAED3EJ187628

M.O.T. - November 2022

Odometer - 18,800

The Malcom Sayer-penned E-type is generally regarded as one of the most beautiful cars ever made. Before his untimely death in 1970 Sayer also created the outline for its successor, the radically different XJS. Initial reactions were mixed, but it’s fair to say that time has been kind to the design, and good examples of the breed are increasingly keenly sought.

‘K632 KDU’ is unquestionably a good example. Pristine inside and out, it has covered just 18,808 miles from new. Its accompanying Heritage Certificate confirms that it came off line on February 10, 1993 and was first registered to Jaguar’s Executive Fleet 12 days later. For many subsequent years it formed part of the 543-strong private collection of Newport-based cosmetic dentist James Hull. Its history then went full circle, when the Hull cars were purchased by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Operation Division, under whose roof the coupe resided before being acquired by the current custodian. This time warp Jaguar is finished in unblemished Diamond Blue, trimmed in equally unadulterated cream doeskin hide and rides on its original factory-specification alloy wheels shod with period-correct Pirelli P600 tyres. In the same way that the rear seats appear never to have been sat on, the immaculately carpeted boot shows no sign of having ever been laden with luggage. The tool kit retains its full complement of Jaguar branded tools and selection of replacement bulbs. The compartment occupied by the car’s 4.0-litre AJ6 engine is as spotless as every other area. Recent maintenance has included an overhaul of the front brakes and an engine service. The Jaguar is now being offered complete with its full book pack, original pair of radio security codes, a current MOT valid until November 11 and, last but not least, a door sticker confirming it was once owned by JLR. What’s not to like?!

In summary:

  • Just 18,808 miles from new – confirmed by the MOT history
  • Previously part of the James Hull and then JLR collections
  • Pristine from stem to stern
