The Bolesworth Castle November 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 45

1971 Chevrolet El Camino Pickup
***NO RESERVE*** Recently imported from the car-friendly climate of South Africa

Registration - JBY6 45J

Chassis No. - TBC

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 19,912

This smartly-presented righthand drive Chevy has just arrived on these shores from the car friendly climate of South Africa. It has recently been UK registered, so is accompanied by its new V5. It is finished in a pleasing shade of metallic green, trimmed in beige vinyl, and rides on a tidy set of five-spoke alloy wheels. Power comes from a 4.1-litre (250ci) straight-six engine that drives through a three-speed manual transmission. As recently as April of this year the truck was treated to a complete respray and an overhaul of the front brake cylinders and carburettor. It was then serviced immediately prior to arriving in this country, so is good to go. The vendor presently grades the bodywork as ‘excellent’, the engine, transmission and paintwork as ‘good’, and the upholstery as ‘average’.

Chevrolet’s striking El Camino differed from conventional pickups by being an adaption of the company’s two-door estate car, which resulted in the cab and cargo bed being an integrated part of the body. The sale car hails from the third generation version that reigned from 1968 to 1972. The model received fresh styling for the year in question, 1971, during which total production of the model hit 41,606 units.

In summary:

  • An attractive example, recently imported from South Africa
  • Powered by a 4.1-litre straight-six engine
  • The subject of a recent respray and service

Detailed description and photographs coming shortly
