An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 45

2003 Citroën Saxo VTR
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - DA03 WUW

Chassis No. - VF756NFTB57929506

M.O.T. - February 2024

Odometer - 75,182

‘DA03 WUW’ is a late MK2 VTR and therefore benefits from the extra 8bhp that the second generation brought. Finished in blue that’s teamed with patterned black cloth interior trim, the VTR was first registered in May 2003 and has just three keepers to date, the first two of which were husband and wife. The Citroën has been in the vendor’s care for the last 17 years, during which it has been cherished and always garaged. It was treated to a new cam belt 8,000 miles ago and is now considered by the vendor to have ‘excellent’ engine, five-speed manual gearbox, hatchback bodywork and upholstery, and ‘good’ paintwork. It is now available for sale complete with sunroof, radio/CD, toolkit, two keys and a history file containing invoices, full service history and a current MOT valid to February 7 next year.

Launched in 1996, the Saxo was Citroën’s replacement for the successful AX, and was certainly a step forward in terms of design. The frontwheel drive hatchback was offered with a choice of no less than four petrol engines varying in capacity from 954 to 1587cc, and one diesel unit of 1527cc. There were two sporting options among the range – the VTR was powered by an eight-valve version of the 1587cc powerplant, the output of which was 90bhp. Thanks to a lightweight body shell, this was sufficient to sprint the three-door hatchback to 60mph in around nine seconds and on to a top speed of 120mph. Suspension was by coil springs up front and torsion bars at the rear, and braking by discs all-round, ventilated at the front. The bodykit that distinguished the VTR from the more junior members of the line-up was shared with the top of the range VTS model.

In summary:

  • A genuine unmolested three-owner 75,192-mile example
  • Comes complete with full service history and current MOT
  • Being sold at No Reserve
