The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 47

1992 Rover Mini Cooper

Registration - K860 EHP

Chassis No. - SAXXNNAYCBD051979

M.O.T. - June 2023

Odometer - 71,500

This particular white over red Cooper has apparently led a sheltered life in recent times, having been largely dry stored for a number of years. The vendor informs us that it has been resprayed at some point, but that the contrasting red-piped black half leather seating is original, while new carpets have been fitted over those installed by the factory back in 1992. He says the Mini starts and runs reliably and is absent of rot. His overall assessment of the current condition is that the 1275cc A Series engine, manual gearbox, bodywork and paintwork are in ‘excellent’ order and the interior in generally ‘good’ condition. He adds that the car has been ‘well looked after’ and is now offering it complete with a file containing the original logbook, a selection of invoices and old MOTs, plus a current one valid into June of next year. It is also accompanied by an assortment of spare parts including headlights and speakers etc.

The Mini’s association with the Cooper Car Company of F1 fame was formed in 1961, and for the next 10 years all performance versions of the little car bore the Cooper badge. Their place in history was sealed with outright victory in the Monte Carlo rallies of 1964, 1965 and 1967. Many other competition successes were accrued before the relationship was shelved in the early 1970s. But you can’t keep a good name down, and it reappeared under Rover’s control almost 20 years later. The initial offering was actually a touch slower than the best of the ‘60s cars, but from 1992 the Cooper Minis were fitted with a punchier, fuel-injected version of the 1275cc engine.

In summary:

· Little used in recent years

· The subject of respray at some point

· Comes complete with history, long MOT and some spares
