Finished in the striking combination of red over grey and with grey cloth interior trim, this straight two-owner example of Ford’s final iteration of the all-conquering Cortina is in as-found condition complete with a few rust blisters – the currently absent item of nearside body trim is in the boot awaiting refitting. Powered by a 1600cc Pinto engine, ‘CVT 243Y’ presently displays a credible but unwarranted 49,367 miles from new, and comes with wide-rimmed alloy wheels and its original push-button radio.
Introduced in 1982, the Crusader was a well-equipped model, 30,000 saloon and estate versions of which were sold before the Cortina range was replaced by the Sierra.
