The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 49

1984 Mini 95 Van
**NO RESERVE**

Registration - DEW 136Y

Chassis No. - SAXXLV10010159851

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 78,948

If you’re wondering how to make the most of the current long, light evenings, then finishing off the almost-complete restoration of this 1983 Mini van could be just the solution you are seeking. It was apparently acquired by the vendor’s late son from a gentleman in Crewe and built up from the bare shell. Once red, it now teams grey paintwork with predominantly grey interior trim. Judging by the red logos, the cloth covered sports seats clearly started life in an MG of description and are among a number of upgrades that also include: a multi-speaker sound system; Mountney leather-rimmed steering wheel; twin carburettors; alloy rocker cover; high-spec headlamps; quick release radiator grille; reverse rim road wheels; sports exhaust system; and fully boarded load area. The odometer currently registers an unwarranted but totally credible 78,948 miles from new, and ‘DEW 136Y’ is being sold complete with a selection of spare body panels and other parts.

The van version of the ubiquitous classic Mini was introduced in 1960 and remained in production until 1982, by which time 521,494 examples had been manufactured. The model was based on the same lengthened platform as the windowed Traveller/ Countryman and had a load capacity of 0.25 tons. Originally marketed under both the Austin and Morris brands, it was renamed the Mini 95 in 1978 - the number 95 reflected the vehicle’s gross vehicle weight of 0.95 tons. The Mini van not only proved popular in its intended role as a commercial vehicle but also as a cheap alternative to a car, as the vans of the day were free of sales tax.

In summary:

  • An almost complete restoration project
  • Six-keepers and a credible 78,948 miles from new
  • Comes with a number of upgrades and a selection of spares

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'
