An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 5

1957 Peugeot Bima Moped
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - 425 UYP

Chassis No. - 180252

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - No Odometer

This remarkably unmolested Bima was manufactured in 1957 and first UK registered in 2016, since when it has had just two keepers. It is finished in a practical shade of grey/blue and comes complete with its original lighting system, side stand, luggage rack, bell and tool bag. The vendor regards the Peugeot as being ‘average’ in all major aspects and informs us that, as it’s been in storage for the last few years, it would now benefit from a degree of recommissioning. We understand the registration ‘425 UYP’ is non-transferable. Powered transport doesn’t come much more affordable than this.

Peugeot introduced the Bima cyclemotor at the 1951 Paris Salon – its name is a contraction of Bicyclette à Moteur Auxiliaire. A development of the company’s BMA25 model, it was designed to compete directly with the VéloSolex and Motobécane Mobylette. It was powered by a 49cc two-stroke motor that was capable of propelling the moped to a top speed of c.22mph. The standard model featured rigid front forks and caliper braking, while lighting was achieved courtesy of a rear mounted dynamo. Production of the model continued to 1956, by which time some 500,000 examples had been created.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale.
