A charming and well-sorted example of the ever-popular Austin A40 Farina, this car has been in the hands of its current keeper for the past six years and has clearly benefitted from a great deal of attention and investment. The vendor informs us that the car has undergone a full nut-and-bolt restoration and now presents in excellent order throughout, both mechanically and cosmetically.
Significantly improved from standard specification, the engine has been uprated from 948cc to 1172cc, with additional performance enhancements including a large carburettor, duplex timing chain (sourced from an Austin Metro for improved efficiency), and an electric cooling fan. The engine is said to be freshly built and not yet fully run in. Stopping power has been sensibly upgraded too, with a servo fitted and front brakes converted from drums to discs.
The vendor also informs us that the car sits on four modern tyres, and remains a particularly rare survivor — with around only 70 examples believed to remain on UK roads, according to contemporary data. This well-cherished and tastefully improved A40 is an ideal candidate for classic motoring events or light summer touring.
In summary:
- Full nut-and-bolt restoration with upgraded 1172cc engine
- Features disc brake conversion, electric fan, and duplex timing
- Offered without reserve
