The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 5

1966 Triumph Trophy TR6SR

Registration - KKH 886D

Chassis No. - TR6SRDU25184

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 00046

‘KKH 886D’ started life as an American specification Trophy ‘Sports Roadster’. It was built in late 1965 for the 1966 season and delivered new to Tricor on the East Coast. It then remained the other side of the pond until repatriated in 2018. The following year it was rebuilt and modified to resemble the ‘60s era desert racers that the likes of Steve McQueen and Bud Eskins had campaigned. In recent times the 649cc engine has been treated to a crank regrind, plus new shells, pistons, rings, valves, guides, Amal concentric carburettor and alternator – the installation of a solid state ignition system means a battery is no longer required. All bearings on the rolling frame have been replaced, and new Continental tyres installed, together with desert-style high level exhaust pipes, shorter custom Torpedo seat, custom front mudguard and air filter, and speedometer and related cable; not to mention a larger 3.5-gallon tank with hand-crafted paintwork. This matching numbers Triumph has travelled just 46 miles since the completion of the restoration. It was the subject of an article in the June 2021 edition of Classic Bike, a copy of which accompanies the lot, together with a dating letter and list of all the work carried out. To quote the vendor – ‘this is a jump-on and ride bike that’s spot on, and needs nothing’!

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'
