February 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 5

1975 Honda CB400 FO

Chassis No. - CB400F1036380

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 11,536

Presented in Light Ruby Red, this totally original early CB400F previously formed part of an American museum collection. Its odometer currently registers a modest 11,536 miles and the vendor classes the transverse engine, six-speed gearbox, frame and eye-catching paintwork as all being in ‘good’ order, and informs us that ‘a gentle recommission’ is all that stands between this handsome Honda and a return to the road.

Produced from 1975 to 1977, the CB400F is memorable for the swooping four-into-one exhaust system that’s attached to its air-cooled, in-line, four-cylinder SOHC engine. The powerplant’s output of 37bhp was sufficient for the machine to cover the standing ¼ mile in 14.7 seconds and accelerate on to a top speed of around 104mph with the rider prone, or 93.5mph when seated normally.

'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following;  Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'

Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.

Estimated at £4,000 - £6,000
