‘KKL261N’ is a rare example of the Yamaha DT 125C Enduro motorcycle which was first introduced in 1974 as a good value, easy to maintain trails bike. This example was imported to the UK in 2019 by a specialist dealer before being sold to the current owner who is registered as the first and only UK keeper. The vendor was keen on this model as had owned one as a 17 year old. ‘KKL261N’ appears to be in a good overall condition and the odometer stands at 943 miles which is thought to be original but can’t be warranted. ‘KKL261N’ is classified as an historic vehicle based on its age. As such it is considered MOT exempt and zero rated for road tax. Compete with ample paperwork, ‘KKL261N’ is offered here with NO RESERVE.
Classic trails bikes, scramblers and enduros are very popular nowadays with many people, like ‘KKL261N’s’ vendor, wanting to relive earlier ownership experiences. This diminutive Yamaha is a fine looking example presenting in a bright red, white and black livery with silver plastic mudguards. Key features of the Enduro, of course, are the high mounted black exhaust system with “Enduro” emblazoned heat shield, enhanced ground clearance, bigger front wheel and knobbly tyres. The rider environment is basic but well resolved and presented. The high, wide bars help with offroad handling and a central cross member adds strength and durability. A pair of individual clocks monitor speed and engine revs and saw toothed, fold up foot pegs are fitted. The vendor rates the paintwork, bodywork and rider environment as “good.”
‘KKL261N’ features a singe cylinder two-stroke, reed-valve petrol air cooled engine. This is paired to a five speed transmission with this set up offering a surprisingly perky performance off road and on, originally offering a top speed in excess of 70 mph. Braking is by drums all round and the compliant suspension is courtesy of telescopic front forks and a swingarm at the rear. All mechanical aspects of ‘KKL261N’ are rated as “good.”
