The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 5

1994 Audi Coupe 2.6
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - M356 CDU

Chassis No. - WAOZZZ8BZ5A000732

M.O.T. - TBC

Odometer - 161,817

‘M356 CDU’ has had just four owners from new. Its presentation belies its age and mileage of 161,817, as the effect of its lustrous Volcano Black bodywork is heightened by an apparently unmarked set of distinctive five spoke alloy wheels. The tidy interior mixes grey cloths seats with black carpeting. The coupe has benefited from a bout of recent maintenance including new brake discs, calipers and pads, the replacement of the cambelt and water pump, and the installation of a new headlining by a Bentley trained trimmer. The aforementioned wheels are also new (the originals form part of the sale) and are shod with equally fresh rubber. Furthermore, the vendor informs us that the Audi has just passed its latest MOT test without issue and he presently views the car’s 2.6-litre V6 engine, coupe bodywork, paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’ and the five-speed manual gearbox as ‘average’.

Marketed simply as the Audi Coupe, the model in question was a popular member of the Audi 80 range that was produced across four generations from 1966 to 1996. The other guises offered were saloon, cabriolet, estate car, and that notably sporting holdall, the RS2 Avant. Being of 1994 vintage, the sale car is an example of the fourth generation coupe that reigned from 1991 to 1996. It was available with a choice of engines which ranged from 1.6 to 2.8 litres in size. The 2.6-litre unit of the sales car had an output of 148bhp and a healthy dose of torque that made it something of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

In summary:

  • A well-presented specimen that belies its age and mileage
  • Comes with brand new alloy wheels and tyres
  • Benefits from recent attention to brakes, engine and interior trim
