Few vehicles capture the character of post-war America quite like a late-1940s Chevrolet pickup. With its wonderfully rounded bodywork, imposing multi-bar chrome grille and unmistakably utilitarian origins, Chevrolet's pickups of this era have become hugely desirable classics in their own right.

Dating from 1949, this particularly attractive example was first registered in the United Kingdom on 16th May 2018. It is understood to have benefited from a considerable restoration at some point in its life, although regrettably its accompanying history file has subsequently been lost.

The quality of its presentation nevertheless speaks for itself. Finished in a particularly effective two-tone combination of deep blue with contrasting cream wings, the Chevrolet retains all the visual appeal expected of an American pickup of the period. Extensive brightwork, including the substantial chrome grille and bumpers, provides a superb contrast to the paintwork, while the boldly lettered Chevrolet tailgate completes the period appearance.

Its wheels provide another distinctive touch, combining black centres with polished detailing and broad whitewall-style embellishment, giving the truck considerable presence from every angle.

The cabin continues the attractive blue and cream theme. A cream three-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of the wonderfully simple period-style instrumentation, while the dashboard, painted to match the exterior, retains the uncluttered character of a working vehicle from the late 1940s. A contrasting cream bench seat with blue piping completes what is a charming and suitably period-looking interior.

Under the bonnet is an engine recorded as 3,850cc, coupled to a manual transmission. The odometer currently displays just 105 miles; given the age of the vehicle and absence of its former history file, this figure should not be taken as representing the vehicle's total mileage.
