An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 51

1999 Mercedes-Benz CLK 430 Avantgarde Convertible
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - V696 MMO

Chassis No. - WDB2084702T036038

M.O.T. - February 2024

Odometer - 114,980

This first generation CLK was registered new in November 1999. It matches silver paintwork with a black hood and black leather interior trim, and rides on silver–painted AMG alloy wheels. Its comprehensive specification includes: multi-contour electric heated seats, front and rear parking sensors, and electric front and rear headrests. We understand that the hood is a replacement and that the Benz has recently had its gearbox control module renewed, together with a pair of tyres. The vendor says the car ‘runs, drives and brakes really nicely’, and currently classes the V8 engine, convertible bodywork, paintwork and upholstery as ‘average’, but the automatic transmission as ‘poor’, owing to the fact that ‘the change has become a bit sluggish from cold’. ‘V696 MMO’ is now available for sale complete with part service history, Mercedes star diagnostic report, MOT certificate valid to February 1 next year, and three sets of keys. The odometer currently registers a total of 114,980 miles.

Mercedes’ CLK range of mid-size coupes and convertibles was in production from 1997 to 2010. Positioned between the SLK and CL models of the day, it combined the styling of the earlier E Class cars with the mechanical underpinnings of the smaller C Class ones. The engine options ranged from an in-line four-cylinder unit of 2.0-litres to the mighty AMG V8 of 5.4 litres. Total production across two generations was 657,634, of which 30 percent were exported to the USA. The 4.3-litre V8 powered version as offered here boasted some 275bhp – sufficient to power the car from rest to 60mph in a little over 5.5 seconds.

In summary:

  • A high specification example displaying 114,980 miles
  • Comes with part history, diagnostic report and valid MOT
  • Being sold at No Reserve
