c.2004 Robin Hood Kit Car

Chassis No. - RHFPS2010RHD4CLGP

M.O.T. - None

Now here’s a unique opportunity – ie to acquire an as-new, zero miles Robin Hood, Caterham-style two seater at what is surely going to be a bargain price. How come? Well, apparently the vendor purchased the kit in c.2004 and put it together over the ensuing 14 years, completing the task some three years ago. The sad part of the story is that by the time he’d achieved IVA accreditation for the car, the enthusiasm with which he had started the project had waned, so it’s never turned a wheel and is now taking up space required for something else. So, his loss could be your gain. Finished in the attractive combination of red and polished stainless steel, it is powered by a 2-litre Ford Pinto engine and comes complete with roll-over bar, Sabelt full harness seat belts, and Mountney leather-rimmed steering wheel. A lot of potential fun for the money.

Colin Chapman’s ubiquitous Lotus Seven was launched as long ago as 1957 yet the concept is, if anything, more popular today than it was then. When Lotus ceased Seven production in 1972/1973, Caterham acquired the manufacturing rights and have built cars to the original design ever since. However, such has always been the demand for affordable wind-in-the-hair machines that a number of other companies have successfully marketed look-alike models, among which was Robin Hood Engineering of Sherwood, Nottingham, who manufactured such two-seaters from 1980 to 2006, when its assets were purchased by Great British Sports Cars.

In summary:

  • Zero miles, as-new kit car
  • Comprehensively equipped and ready to enjoy
  • 2-litre Pinto power
