Whichever way you look at it, XKs represent astonishing value for money in the current market. ‘KM06 VFB’ is certainly an attractive example, whose Metallic Quartz Grey coupe bodywork is teamed with black hide upholstery and 20in alloy wheels shod with Dunlop SP Sport tyres. It is a well-equipped example, the many optional extras attached to which include: front park assist; touch screen visual aid; premium surround sound with eight speakers; cruise control and speed limiter; active front light system; three-spoke leather-rimmed steering wheel; burr walnut facia; and a leather gear knob. The Jaguar has had just three owners from new who between them have amassed a total of 111,689 miles, and the vendor currently rates the bodywork, paintwork and full leather upholstery as ‘excellent’ and the V8 engine and automatic transmission as ‘good’. The car comes complete with a full service history and MOT valid to December 20.
Known internally as the X150, the second and final iteration of Jaguar’s 2+2 XK model first appeared in three-door coupe guise at the 2005 Frankfurt Salon, with the two-door convertible derivative debuting the following year at the NAIAS Auto Show in Detroit. Designed by Ian Callum, the newcomer was notable for its bonded and riveted aluminium monocoque chassis and all-alloy bodywork. Power was provided by a 4.2-litre version of the company’s proven AJ34 V8 powerplant and transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed ZF automatic transmission. Though both wider and longer than the XK8 (X100) it replaced, it was a full 200 lb lighter – a welcome change that resulted in improvements to both the performance and fuel consumption. Design cues that deliberately evoked memories of Jaguar’s glorious past included the D-Type-esque nose and centrally-placed grille badge redolent of the immortal E-Type.
