November 2022 Classics Auction

  Lot 55

1989 Land Rover 110 County Station Wagon

Registration - G110BNP

Chassis No. - SALLDHMB7FA391786

M.O.T. - November 2023

Odometer - 129,829

This very original-looking, matching numbers 110 was first registered in August 1989. It has had only four keepers to date, the previous one being a lady who inherited the vehicle from her father when he passed away – he had been an employee of the Land Rover dealership in Conwy, North Wales. We understand from the vendor that in excess of £5,000 has been invested in the Landie in the last two years, and he now considers the 2.5-litre diesel engine and four-wheel drive transmission to be in ‘good’ order, and the grey cloth trim to be in ‘average’ condition, but believes the red paintwork to now be a little ‘below average’. The appropriately registered ‘G110 BNP’ is now being offered for sale complete with sunroof, radio/cassette, tow pack and a current MOT valid for the next 12 months. The odometer currently stands at 129,829 miles.

The biggest development in the original Land Rover’s history was the cessation of the Series line and its replacement with the Land Rover 90 and 110 models, later re-badged as Defender. This change was necessitated by the launch of the Land Rover Discovery, meaning the father of the range could no longer be called just a Land Rover – it too needed its own model name. The Discovery also brought a new engine to the party, the 200Tdi which, as fitted to the 90 and 110, resulted in higher cruising speeds and more load-lugging torque. Gone now was the long-standing leaf spring suspension to be replaced by coils all round. Throughout the ‘90s, the model commenced the climb upmarket while remaining true to its roots.

In summary:

• Benefited from £5,000-plus expenditure in the last two years

• Just four keepers from new

• Comes complete with sunroof, radio/cassette and ‘110’ registration
