The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 58

1989 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth
Enthusiast owned, previously featured in Fast Ford Magazine

Registration - G725 0UF

Chassis No. - WF0FXXGBBFKR01234

M.O.T. - March 2023

Odometer - 130,520

‘G725 OUF’ was first registered on August 30 1989. Its metallic grey bodywork is matched to a two-tone grey cloth interior and it rides on a very tidy-looking set of the now rare TSW Hockenheim alloy wheels. Back in 2016 it was the property of an RS Owners Club member, at which time it starred in the July issue of Fast Ford magazine. By the following year it had been treated to a number of desirable engine, transmission, suspension, and brake upgrades – such items as the K&N intake filter, SFS silicone hosing, alloy header tank and stainless steel exhaust system are readily visible, while others are less apparent. A new set of Hankook tyres were fitted as recently as March last year, four months before the car was acquired by the vendor. One would assume that they have only experienced minor wear to date, as the Ford has completed just 2,248 miles in the last six years. Always now garaged and reserved for special trips, it is considered by the vendor to have an ‘excellent’ five-speed manual transmission and ‘good’ turbo engine, bodywork, paintwork and interior trim. It has covered a few miles in total – the odometer currently displays 130,520 – It is now being offered complete with Clifford alarm/immobiliser, Sony stereo system and sunroof, plus a current MOT valid into March of next year. An attractive and affordable route into Cosworth ownership.

The Sapphires were the most numerous and lightest of all the Sierra Cosworth derivatives, some 13,140 examples of which were produced between 1988 and 1990.

In summary:

  • As featured in the July 2016 issue of Fast Ford
  • Boasts a host of desirable mechanical upgrades
  • Rides on a good set of sought after TSW Hockenheim alloys
