1993 Toyota MR2

Registration - K512 OFM

Chassis No. - SW200082290

M.O.T. - July 2024

Odometer - 114,000

Toyota’s MR2 MkII is one of those rare beasts – a ‘mainstream’ model that looks like a sportscar from a premium marque. ‘K512 OFM’ is one such MR2, mildly fettled visually to create an even more striking appearance. This mid-engined coupe is presented in attractive Teal (metallic turquoise), with a black interior, and was imported from Japan in 2006. Since then, it has been worked on with the addition of a Border Racing-style front bumper, TOMS side skirts and rear wing, Enkei Racing Peaks split rim alloy wheels, Phoenix exhaust, and front strut brace. The vendor describes the bodywork as ‘completely solid', with everything other than the engine and transmission regarded as ‘good’. That engine – Toyota’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit – and five-speed gearbox are reckoned ‘excellent’. ‘K512 OFM’ is offered by the vendor with 114,309 miles on the odometer.

The original mid-engined two-seater MR2 (it stood for Midship Runabout Two-Seater) was an unexpected offering from Toyota – a manufacturer previously noted for its practical but very conventional family cars.

The second generation model was introduced in 1989 and rolled out around the world over the ensuing two years. It was a very different looking car. Gone were the angular lines of the inaugural model to be replaced by softer flowing ones more akin to the Pininfarina-styled Ferrari 348 and F355. The newcomer was larger all over than its predecessor and therefore heavier too – by some 375 pounds. The potential effect on performance was countered by the replacement of the 1.6-litre engine with a 2.0-litre one.

In summary:

· A mildly modified imported example of Toyota’s MR2 MkII

· Equipped with high quality body kit and split rim alloys

· Imported from Japan in 2006
