The Bolesworth Castle October 2023 Classic & Performance Car Auction

  Lot 59

2008 Ferrari F430 Spider
Well-specified F1 model, with numerous carbon fibre upgrades

Registration - LL08 ORZ

Chassis No - ZFFEZ59C000158676

M.O.T - February 2024

Odometer - 31,105

Unless you are one those who believes a Ferrari isn’t a proper Prancing Horse unless it’s finished in Rosso Corsa, then it would be difficult not to lust after this stunning F430. Its lustrous Nero-coloured bodywork is matched to black carbon (a £4,980 option) and leather interior trim. In fact, contrasts to the Spider’s striking black persona are pretty much limited to the Ferrari front wing shields (£820 extra) and yellow of the brake calipers (£575 extra) that nestle behind the splendid quartet of graphite-coloured 14-spoke Stradale Style alloy wheels. The specification of this decidedly well-equipped F430 further includes: electrically operated seats, radio/navigation system, carbon ceramic brakes and pre-wiring etc for a battery charger, steering wheel-mounted Manettino dial and distinctive yellow-backed rev-counter marked to 10,000rpm – the total cost of the factory-fitted extras alone was £21,500. ‘LL08 ORZ’ comes complete with a full service history containing 13 stamps courtesy of specialists HR Owen, Joe Macari, Dick Lovett, Autofficina and TT Mechnica, the most recent bout of maintenance having been completed as recently as February this year at 31,105 miles – ie just 72 miles ago. Taking all the above into consideration, it comes as little surprise that the vendor presently considers all major aspects of the car to be in ‘excellent’ condition.

Ferrari’s F430 model debuted at the Paris Salon in 2004. It was designed at Pininfarina under the guidance of Frank Stephenson and, while it broadly shared the Alcoa alloy chassis, roofline, doors and glass of the 360, the revised lines endowed the newcomer with considerably greater downforce. It also contained some nice styling cues from previous Ferraris – eg Enzo tail lights and interior vents, the model name etched Testarossa-style into the driver’s side mirror, and large oval intakes at the front reminiscent of ‘60s Ferrari race cars. The lusty 4.3-litre V8 powerplant was, however, entirely new. Output was 483bhp and an equally healthy 343 lb ft of torque. The braking was designed in close co-operation with Brembo (calipers/discs) and Bosch (the electronics). There was the choice of six-speed manual or semi-automatic transmission that drove through a computer-controlled limited slip differential. Another notable feature was the steering wheel-mounted (Manettino) control that allowed drivers to select from five different settings, affecting: ESC, electronic suspension, transmission, throttle response and E-diff.

In summary:

  • An immaculately-presented, high specification example
  • Just 31,105 warranted miles from new
  • Comes complete with fully documented service history
