Registration – GRF 112T
Chassis No. – SRH35753
M.O.T. – Exempt
Odometer – 61,000
With just four previous keepers to date, and current family ownership for around four years, ‘GRF112T’ is a fine example of the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II. Hailing from 1978, ‘GRF112T’ is from the first year of Shadow II production, a model much desired by purists for its improved rack and pinion steering and resultant handling. With just 61,000 unwarranted miles recorded, the condition of ‘GRF112T’ suggests this to be genuine. ‘GRF112T’ is registered as an Historic Vehicle based on age and so MoT exempt and zero rated for road tax in the UK. Offered here with lots of instructive paperwork including earlier MOTs, factory records, tax disks and more.
‘GRF112T’ presents in its original bright white livery with a sand coloured vinyl roof. This would, of course, make ‘GRF112T’ a perfect candidate for wedding car duties as well as a superb addition to any classic collection. With ‘DIL2219’ representing an example of the second generation Silver Shadow it exhibits all the sublime design cues originally penned by John Blatchley. Compared to its Silver Cloud predecessor, the Shadow was a vastly more modern design and, as such, enthusiastically received at launch in 1965 with the Shadow II following in 1977. ‘GRF112T’ is awash with Silver Shadow signatures including, of course, the deeply chromed Pantheon grill and accompanying Spirit of Ecstasy. The steel wheels are disguised by the customary chromed and body coloured wheel trims. It also exhibits the later cars’ full length chromed rubbing strip. The interior of ‘GRF112T’ is a sanctuary of perfectly patinaed supple Connelly leather, deep woollen Wilton carpets and ample craftsman cut, varnished burr walnut veneer. The vendor rates the bodywork and paintwork as “average” and the interior as “good.”
‘GRF112T’ utilises the venerable 6750cc V8 L-series engine mated to the smooth shifting three speed GM 400 automatic gearbox. Nothing as vulgar as power outputs were published at the time but this combination is rightly focused on refinement and “whaftability” rather than speed and performance. The owner rates all aspects of ‘GRF112T’s’ mechanical condition as “good.” Likely to offer outstanding value for money for such an originally expensive car, ‘GRF112T’ represents your chance to own a very attractive and presentable example of the rapidly appreciating Silver Shadow.
