The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 60

2006 Ford Mustang GT Convertible 4.6

Registration - LK55 UNS

Chassis No. - IZVHT85H065256364

M.O.T. - October 2022

Odometer - 88,559

‘LK55 UNS’ came off line in 2006 and was imported to the UK from Dubai last year. Its blue paintwork is offset by white-stripping on the flanks, black alloy wheels and two-tone grey cloth interior trim. It is powered by the optional 4.6-litre V8 engine that drives through a four-speed automatic gearbox. The vendor currently views the engine, transmission, convertible bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’ and the upholstery as ‘average’, and is now offering the fast Ford complete with a Pioneer CD/MP3 player and reversing camera. The currently indicated total mileage of 88,559 is unwarranted but commensurate with the age of the car.

Now in its sixth generation, the Mustang name has been part of Ford’s armoury since 1964, making it the company’s longest standing model. The fourth incarnation that debuted in 1993 represented the model’s first major redesign for 15 years. However, it is the fifth generation of 2004 to 2014 that really excited the enthusiasts, as its styling very deliberately echoed that of the fastback Mustangs of the late ‘60s – think Steve McQueen. The base model was powered by a 210bhp cast iron-blocked 4.0-litre V6 engine, while the more exciting GT model (as per the sale car) had a 300bhp aluminium-blocked 4.6-litre V8 nestling under its bonnet. This drove through either a Tremec TR-3650 five-speed manual transmission or Ford’s own 5R55S five-speed automatic unit.

In summary:

  • A lefthand drive example imported from Dubai last year
  • Boasts a 4.6-litre V8 powerplant
  • Comes complete with a CD/MP3 player and reversing camera
