Offered at No Reserve, this striking black Jaguar S-Type Sport has the 240bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine that serves up 0-62mph in 7.6 seconds and a top speed of 146mph. Notably, it is fitted with the very rare manual gearbox – a Getrag five-speed unit that offers slick shifts and an engaging drive. The acclaimed rear-wheel drive chassis offers plenty of engagement for the enthusiastic driver. It is a car the vendor describes as being in “fantastic condition”.
Being a Sport model, ‘BF54LWR’ has the desirable dechromed ‘black-pack’ look. The 20-spoke 18-inch alloys set it off perfectly, as does the black leather interior. Dual-zone climate control is standard, as are electric seats and a convenient electric parking brake. The original S-Type book pack include the owner’s manual and service book. There’s a thick pile of receipts and old MOTs, too. The current MOT is valid until September.
Introduced in 1963, the original Jaguar S-Type was a major development of the Mark 2, itself a more elegant version of the Mark 1. It was so well loved, Jaguar revived the name for its 1999 executive car developed while the firm was owned by Ford. Styled by Geoff Lawson and codenamed X200, it shared an architecture with the Lincoln LS and Ford Thunderbird. This car is a facelifted 2004 model, with the redesign overseen by Ian Callum. These cars really are the S-Types to have – particularly this 3.0-litre Sport manual.
