1968 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster
From the collection of entrepreneur/author Laurie Seago-Taylor

1968

Jaguar

E-Type

4.2 Roadster

Chassis No. - 1E17026

Registration No. - FMA 913F

M.O.T. - Exempt

From the collection of entrepreneur/author Laurie Seago-Taylor This stunning righthand drive E-Type roadster is the bespoke creation of Laurie Seago-Taylor who, to add to his other epithets, is a serial car collector. In short, it’s a 1968 Series 1.5 example restored and re-engineered to resemble a brand new but subtly uprated 1967 Series 1 model. ‘FMA 913F’ began life as a lefthand drive American export, the painstaking reincarnation of which commenced in October 2014. The body was stripped and the floor and inner and outer sills replaced, at which point the reassembled shell and attendant bonnet panels were media blasted before being coated in molten zinc at 400 deg C. The whole ensemble was then resprayed in Opalescent Silver Blue, one of the most popular of all E-Type colour options.

Other items that have been renewed or completely refurbished include: the engine and bonnet support frames; major engine ancillaries; braking system (that’s also been upgraded); and the front and rear suspension, while the original exhaust system was replaced with a stainless steel one. The transmission and engine were completely rebuilt by specialist firms, during which the American spec. Stromberg carburettor set-up was replaced by a trio of SUs. The raised open headlights of the Series 1.5 car were replaced by the fared-in type that were a signature design of the Series 1 model, and the exterior look completed by new chrome wire wheels and two-eared chrome spinners. Last but not least, the entire interior, including the facia, was reupholstered in blue leather and the car topped off by a fresh dark blue mohair hood. This now ‘magical-looking’ British icon has covered just 50 miles since returning to the road, so is effectively a new car seeking a suitably appreciative new owner.

In summary:

  • An as-new 1967 specification, matching numbers E-Type roadster
  • Hand-finished leather interior
  • Only 50 miles covered since it was totally restored
