And now for something completely different. In short, a breath-taking hand-crafted replica of the legendary MV Augusta 500/4 – the type raced by 15-times World Champion Giacomo Agostini and on which he won both his and MV’s final Grand Prix.
The evocation was built in Treviso Italy in 2020 by a band of craftsmen with the average age of 75. MV’s former factory foreman managed the project and both assembled and tuned the resulting machine. The vendor informs us that the total build cost was in excess of €35,000. The chosen engine is a 500cc four-cylinder Kawasaki unit, and the evocation’s registration stems from the ID of the donor Kawasaki. The powerplant is highly-tuned and features: a strengthened crankshaft and con-rods; special cams, pistons and valves; racing-type carburettors; and a dry clutch and upgraded gear ratios. The frame was specially constructed by a 74-year old former member of the MV factory, while the replica aluminium fuel tanks (the main one plus a spare, manufactured at a cost 1250 Euros each) were fabricated by an even older former Maserati foreman. The wheels, brakes (including the four leading shoe front drum) and suspension were all supplied by Ceriani. Serviced and tested, but never raced, this extraordinary re-creation has travelled just 100km to date and is now ready for a new keeper to enjoy. A totally unique and very exciting opportunity.
'A Buyer’s Premium applies to the Hammer Price of this Lot if your bid is successful, as per the following; Motor Cars 12.5% + VAT (minimum £150 + VAT), Motorcycles and Bicycles 15% + VAT (minimum £100 + VAT); Registration Numbers 15% + VAT (minimum £50 + VAT); Automobilia 15% + VAT (minimum of £5 + VAT).'
Potential buyers should satisfy themselves with the description and condition of each lot prior to sale. Each vehicle is offered ‘as is/as seen’ as per the terms and conditions for the auction, buyers are asked to inspect the vehicle in person or use a professional to carry out the service. Any disputes over descriptions will not be entertained.
