  Lot 66

2009 Land Rover 90 SVX 60th Anniversary Limited Edition No.266
One of only 300 built worldwide, only 90 in the UK

Registration - SP59 PJX

Chassis No. - SALLDVAS79A774220

M.O.T. - December 2023

Odometer - 122,741

This very smartly-presented soft-top Land Rover is No.266 of just 300 SVX 60th anniversary models produced, only 90 convertible and hardtop examples of which were allocated to the UK market. Its eye-catching Santorini black bodywork is teamed with silver-coloured roll cage and black interior trim, bikini hood and chunky five-spoke 16-inch alloy wheels shod with General Grabber tyres. Power comes from a 121bhp Ford turbo diesel engine that drives to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. In addition to the aforementioned items the impressive specification includes: sidesteps; a pair of half leather Recaro bucket seats; leather-rimmed steering wheel; Kenwood audio system; and distinctive silver coloured grille and light-surround. This rare and exciting truck has had a total of six keepers to date, who’ve amassed a total of 122,741 miles between them. It is now being sold complete with a pair of keys and fobs, plus a current MOT certificate valid to December 6.

The biggest development in the original Land Rover’s history was the cessation of the Series line and its replacement with the Land Rover 90 and 110 models, later re-badged as Defender. This change was necessitated by the launch of the Land Rover Discovery, meaning the father of the range could no longer be called just a Land Rover – it too needed its own model name. The Discovery also brought a new engine to the party, the 200Tdi which, as fitted to the Defender, resulted in higher cruising speeds and more load-lugging torque. Gone now was the long-standing leaf spring suspension to be replaced by coils all round. Engine changes became a regular occurrence with the 200Tdi being followed by the 300Tdi, Td5 and then the Ford DuraTorq that appeared in 2.4-litre form in 2007 and 2.2-litre guise in 2012. Throughout the ‘90s and noughties the model continued the climb upmarket while remaining true to its roots. Production finally ceased in 2016, prior to which a number of desirable special editions were created, of which the 60th Anniversary range is a notable one.

In summary:

  • One of just 90 such anniversary models sold in the UK
  • Six keepers and 122,741 miles from new
  • Well-presented and being sold complete with current MOT
