  Lot 67

1975 Triumph 1500 TC
A totally genuine, two-owner, 58,000-mile example

Registration - GLO 509N

Chassis No. - YC15089DL

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - TBC

We’ll wager that it’s a long time since you last clapped eyes on a Triumph 1500 TC, if ever, and certainly not one like this immaculate genuine two-owner example with a mere 58,546 warranted miles to its name. It’s finished in its original livery of Honeysuckle paintwork and Chestnut vinyl interior trim, and at first sight could easily be mistaken for a Dolomite Sprint courtesy of its sports wheels, quad headlights etc. The car abounds with extras, including those painted wire wheels shod with good Firestone tyres, both wing and door mirrors, a pair of Lucas auxiliary lights, tow hook, badge bar, pancake air filters for its pair of SU carburettors, alloy rocker cover, Moto-Lita woodrim steering wheel and period Radiomobile push-button radio. ‘GLO 509N’ was purchased new for £1,791.12 by a Mr E Clarke of Chorleywood Herts from Wrights Motors of Rickmansworth in March 1975 and retained the Triumph until 2001, since when it has remained in the care of the vendor and is well known to the Triumph club. He presently grades the twin carburettor 1500cc engine, four-speed manual transmission and upholstery as ‘excellent’ and the four-door bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’. He is now offering the car for sale complete with its original bill of sale, every service and MOT certificate from new, the original handbook and sales brochure, not to mention sundry workshop manuals and parts catalogues and a pair of keys. An unrepeatable opportunity for Triumph aficionados everywhere.

Triumph’s Michelotti-penned 1500 was a frontwheel drive four-door saloon produced from 1970-1973, at which point it was supplanted by the 1500 TC that was powered by a twin carburettor version of the same 1493cc engine, but drove through the rear rather than front wheels. The newcomer could achieve the 0-60mph sprint in 14 seconds and a top speed in excess of 90mph.

In summary:

  • A totally genuine, two-owner, 58,546-mile example
  • Immaculately presented in its original livery
  • Comes complete with a host of desirable extras
