This 1967 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 ‘Series 1.5’ presents a rare opportunity to acquire an iconic E-type at No Reserve. Being originally from the USA has helped with its longevity; it was imported into the UK back in 1991, and subsequently converted to right-hand drive. The vendor has owned it for four years, and reports it has had over £30,000 spent on it during restoration – and the car comes with plentiful receipt-based evidence of this. The 4.2-litre straight-six XK engine is paired with a automatic gearbox, with this later, larger engine providing around 10% more power and torque than the E-type’s original 3.8-litre motor.
‘EUG144F’ is described as being in good condition overall, from its red paintwork to its black leather interior. It has brand new wheels and tyres, while the chromework has been recently replaced, and there’s a new exhaust too. “It drives really well and has been well-cherished,” said the vendor.
The Jaguar E-type was Sir William Lyons’ most famous model. Instantly world famous for its delectable styling, 150mph performance and relative affordability, it has rightly gone on to be recognised as one of the most iconic cars of all time. This Jaguar E-type Series 1.5 retains the original model’s iconic bodyshell, bumpers and slim rear lights, while bringing better brakes and more powerful headlights, an all-synchromesh gearbox, improved seats and rocker switches on the centre console instead of the original toggles. For many enthusiasts, it’s a smart choice, being more accessible than pricier Series 1 models. What’s more, as the Jaguar brand prepares for its rebirth as an all-electric firm, interest in its historical models is set to rise once again, making now a very smart time to join the Jaguar E-type ownership club.
