This well-loved Honda CD200, offered at No Reserve, is in gleaming condition thanks to a full restoration in 2018 at a cost of over £3,000. With an odometer reading around 24,600 miles, this 1981 Honda CD200 is finished in period green-blue with a sturdy black seat. Family-owned for more than 20 years, the vendor says his dad rode it until he was 84 years old! Described as an incredibly easy bike to ride, this 198cc four-speed machine is very lightweight and well-balanced. The vendor says that that if you want a lightweight retro bike, this is perfect (it’s fitted with electronic start, too). Low running costs are another bonus – as ‘ONT735X’ is over 40 years old, it doesn’t require tax or an MOT, and classic bike insurance can cost a mere £60 a year.
The Honda CD200 range was offered all around the world, with several different bodystyles sharing similar mechanicals. The 200cc twin engine was capable of around 70mph and, like all classic Hondas, it quickly gained a reputation for brilliant reliability – ‘runs like a Swiss watch’ was a common boast. The series was introduced in 1980 and ran right through to 2007, which is proof of the inherent rightness of its design.
