Spring 2021 Classics & Collectables Auction

  Lot 73

1997 Daimler Double Six (X300)

Chassis No. - SAJDKAMS3BR799688

Registration - P164 KWC

M.O.T. - January 2022

Odometer – 43,995

Righthand drive home market X300s probably don’t come much better than this one, that has clearly led a cossetted existence that’s included residing in an air-conditioned garage for most of it life. As a result, we are informed that its British Racing Green bodywork has ‘no rust whatsoever, anywhere’. Indeed, the Daimler was apparently so clean when the vendor purchased it two years ago, that he was able to Waxoyl the underside without prior preparation. This very original example has apparently never required any body repairs, while the white-piped coffee-coloured interior hide upholstery is described by the vendor as ‘spotless’ and ‘as-new’. The road wheels have been refurbished in chrome effect and were treated to new tyres all round less than 300 miles ago. The vendor is equally praiseworthy of the car’s mechanicals, advising that ‘the 6.0-litre V12 engine, four-speed automatic transmission, independent suspension etc are all problem free and function exactly as intended’. The odometer has clocked a mere 43,995 miles from new, only 400 of which were covered in the last 12 months and only on dry roads. This very collectable member of Jaguar/Daimler’s much vaunted XJ family is now offered complete with: shag pile overmats; an original sales brochure; every receipt dating back to when ‘P164 KWC’ was purchased new; a full service history; plus an advisory-free MOT valid until January 2, 2022.

The Jaguar XJ Series and its Daimler counterparts were first introduced in 1968. Some four years into production a 12-cylinder 5.3-litre version was offered for the first time, the Daimler versions of which were dubbed the Double-Six; thereby reviving the famous Daimler model name of the vintage era.

In summary:

  • Remarkably clean, rust-free original example
  • Full service history from new and advisory-free MOT
  • Low mileage of just 43,995
