This fun little two-seat Honda was first registered in August 1993. Its apparently unmarked white bodywork is complemented by black/grey cloth trim and the car rides on tidy silver-painted alloy wheels shod with a good set of Bridgestone Turanza tyres. ‘L83 WFH’ was stored for some six years prior to the previous keeper’s acquisition in December 2018, which prompted him to have all the fluids renewed along with the cam belt, water pump and sparking plugs. A modest amount of body repair was also carried out in order to restore the original paintwork to the required standard, while the boot scripts and Honda bonnet badge were also renewed. The vendor is the sixth owner of the CRX (earlier ones include Jeff Wayne Music of London), who purchased it from our sale of April 2021. He presently considers the Honda’s four-cylinder engine, five-speed manual gearbox and upholstery to all be in ‘excellent’ condition and classes the two-door bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’. The currently indicated total mileage of 76,632 is understood to be genuine, and the CRX is now being offered complete with its original Panasonic radio/cassette, full book pack, a pair of keys, and a current MOT certificate that’s valid into April next year.
The CRX ESi was in production from 1992 to 1997. Its 1590cc four-cylinder engine produced 125bhp – sufficient to propel the little two-seater to 60mph in around 8.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 110mph-plus. The model’s innovative specification includes an electrically-operated rear window, as well as electrically-powered side windows and mirrors and central locking. It also boasts a Targa roof panel that can be lifted out and then stored in a purpose-built carrier within the large luggage area.
