An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 76

1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - T550 XDA

Chassis No. - CP9A-0108030

M.O.T. - No M.O.T.

Odometer - 113,338 Kms (70,424 miles)

To many eyes, Mitsubishi’s sixth generation Evo was the most dramatic-looking of all, and this well-presented example is certainly not lacking in street presence. It is finished in an eye-catching shade of white and trimmed in a mix of blue cloth and grey Alcantara, and is a Japanese domestic model that was first UK registered in 2018. The vendor, the Evo’s third UK keeper, informs us that ‘T550 XDA’ has benefited from a considerable level of attention from a Mitsubishi specialist and is currently producing 360bhp though, having been dry stored for two years, has travelled few miles since. He volunteers that there is a chip to the driver’s door paintwork and the car currently lacks a catalytic convertor. Overall he rates the turbo engine, five-speed manual gearbox, four-door bodywork and paintwork as ‘excellent’, and the upholstery as ‘good’ – the driver’s seat now exhibits a degree of wear to the outer bolsters. The Lancer is now offered complete with a straight-through exhaust system, small racing size battery, Kenwood infotainment system and selection of invoices.

The Evolution series of Mitsubishi Lancers was in production from 1992 to 2016, during which no less than 10 generations were created. The model achieved rallying immortality thanks to ‘flying Finn’ Tommi Mäkinen, who drove Evos to victory in no less than four consecutive World Rally Championships, the last of which was achieved aboard an Evo VI. This prompted the creation of a Tommi Mäkinen special edition, of which 4,092 are believed to have been created. The 2-litre turbocharged engine of the standard version produced 276bhp – sufficient for a 0-60mph time of 4.8 seconds and terminal speed of 140mph.

In summary:

  • Three UK keepers since being imported in 2018
  • Accompanying invoices confirm Mitsubishi specialist maintenance
  • Tuned to give 360bhp without catalytic convertor or silencer
