On the face of it, the only thing this fine-looking lefthand drive XK150 is lacking is somebody to jump in and enjoy it, as it has had an enormous amount of time and money lavished upon since it was repatriated in 2013. The roadster (or OTS in Jaguar speak) was despatched new to Jaguar Cars New York on December 17, 1958 and since returning to these shores has been stripped and rebuilt from stem to stern. The chassis that only needed a few repairs has been seam welded along the back rails, sand-blasted, primed and painted in two-pack gloss. The suspension parts were also blasted and zinc plated or painted. A complete new rear section of body was hand-crafted by Bill Lawrence & Son of Lymington, Hants, together with some front wing sections and headlamp pods. The completion of the body repairs (including the installation of new door skins, sills and floors) was entrusted to renowned E-Type engineer Joe Dymott. Standard items that were overhauled or replaced included the rear axle and limited slip differential, alternator, the trio of SU carburettors, brake servo and brake lines, wiring loom, and petrol pipes. Various uprates were carried out during the rebuild, including: the fitment of a five-speed XJ6 gearbox; more powerful water pump and fan; stainless steel radiator, header tank and fuel tank; XJ6 electric distributor; modern fuel pump; four-pot brake caliper; and stainless steel wire wheels.

Following completion of the work, the Jaguar was stored and so has been recently recommissioned by Atspeed Racing of Rayleigh, Essex at a cost of £1100 after just 260 miles of travel. The fully-refreshed Jaguar is now being offered complete with Heritage Certificate, a fresh MOT certificate and many of the original parts that were removed during the restoration, including the original overdrive gearbox. Please note, the registration number "42 SAM", as shown in the photos, is going on retention so is not included in the sale. The new V5C will be forwarded to the buyer when it arrives.

In summary:

  • A LHD American export model, first UK registered in 2014
  • Completely rebuilt and uprated since being repatriated in 2013
  • Comes with Heritage Certificate, MOT and numerous spares
