The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 79

1927 Peugeot P102 Two-Stroke Motorcycle
VMCC Banbury Run eligible

Registration - BF 8792

Chassis No. - N/A

This delightful period runabout may be familiar to anybody who visited the sadly now closed Stondon Motor Museum of Lower Stondon Bedfordshire, as the machine was apparently restored there before being placed on permanent display for many years. It was first registered with what would now be the very valuable registration ‘WE 1’, but we understand that now adorns a Rolls-Royce. Since acquiring the bike, the current keeper has rebored the engine and treated it to a new piston, crankshaft bearings and seals. In addition, the magneto has been rewound, the fuel tank relined and a new condenser installed. He informs us that the P102 is now fully operational, but will require a degree of running-in before it can be enjoyed to the maximum. He presently considers the rebuilt 175cc two-stroke engine, frame and black paintwork to all be in ‘excellent’ condition and the belt-drive transmission to be in ‘good’ order. He is now seeking a suitably caring new home for ‘BF 8792’ which, among other events, is eligible for the VMCC’s famed Banbury Run, the largest gathering of pre-1931 motorcycles and three-wheelers in the world.

Peugeot produced the P102 model from 1927 to 1931, during which time some 6,900 examples were created.
