Chassis No. – 3500215
M.O.T. – October 2025
Odometer – 93,000
Offered at No Reserve, this charming and characterful 1973 Peugeot 304 is a real rarity – of the 836 right-hand drive cars believed to have been produced, it is understood this car is one of just 11 that are currently on the road. The vendor says it has had recent recommissioning work including new bumpers, rear brakes and a new alternator. They add that it’s had a full service too.
‘VBH120L’ has a 1,288cc engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. The vendor describes both as being in ‘excellent’ condition. The wonderful Corn Yellow paint is complemented by a black interior. The odometer reads 93,000 miles. A highly original car with just the right amount of gentle period patina, the Pininfarina lines of ‘VBH120L’ present very well indeed. Registered on 12 July 1973, this Peugeot 304 Cabriolet has had just 7 former keepers with records showing the recent keeper owned it for more than 21 years. It comes with a collection of invoices and receipts detailing work carried out.
The Peugeot 304 was introduced in 1969 as a mid-size family saloon to slot in between the smaller 204 and larger 504. It used the middle section of the 204, to help with production efficiencies, combined with a longer front and rear. The four-door saloon was later followed by a station wagon estate and, in 1970, a two-door, two-seat convertible. It, like the alternative two-door coupe, had a shorter wheelbase but shared mechanicals. While almost 1.2 million Peugeot 304 were built in total, just 19,000 convertibles were made – and only 836 of those were right-hand drive, making ‘VBH120L’ a very rare car indeed.
