The Gold Cup Classic Car Auction

  Lot 81

2000 BMW 530D
*** NO RESERVE ***

Registration - V501 MOP

Chassis No. - WBADL8 2000BZ74941

M.O.T. - No M.O.T.

Odometer - 125,932

‘V501 MOP’ is a head turner with its silver green metallic paintwork complemented by black leather interior trim, period correct alloy wheels and a neat tail spoiler. It has remained in its current ownership for the last five years, during which time it has been dry stored. The vendor considers the bodywork, paintwork and upholstery to be in ‘good’ condition and the engine and automatic transmission to be in ‘average’ order. He very honestly volunteers that the ‘offside rear wheelarch features a minor scuff and paint bubble; that there is a crack in the paint of the offside sill; that the bonnet badge is missing and there are various stone chips’, though that’s surely to be expected of a car that’s travelled 125,932 to date. The Beemer comes complete with service history up to 2011 (the last service having taken place at 102,451 miles – ie 23,481 miles ago) and ‘tyres with minimal wear’.

BMW’s ever-popular E39 model was the fourth generation of its benchmark 5 Series range of executive cars. Manufactured between 1995 and 2004, it remains fresh and attractive today, 26 years after it was premiered at the Frankfurt Salon. The V8 M5 variant has long since become a favourite of collectors but, with 288 lb ft of torque on tap, the unpretentious 530d is no mean performer, thanks to BMW’s silky-smooth six-cylinder diesel engine that brought a new standard of refinement to the world of compression ignition engines. To reduce unsprung weight, the E39’s major front suspension components were manufactured in aluminium, as were some of the rear ones. It was also the first 5 Series model to be equipped with rack and pinion steering.

In summary:

  • Finished in the attractive shade of silver green metallic
  • Currently registering just four owners from new
  • Comes complete with service history up to 2011
