An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 82

2002 Jaguar XJ Executive 3.2
Only 51,000 miles, entered by a Jaguar Drivers' Club member

Registration - SG02 AOU

Chassis No. - SAJAC13LX2KF47523

M.O.T. - February 2024

Odometer - 51,034

‘SG02 AOU’ has been the vendor’s pride and joy since 2018 and certainly presents extremely well. Its gold paintwork is matched to sable-piped ivory-coloured hide interior trim, and the Jaguar rides on unmarked 16in Starburst alloy wheels equipped with new centre caps and Falken Ziex Ecorun tyres all-round. Other new items installed within the last three years include: both upstream lambda sensors, uprated thermostat housing and thermostat; breather hose; throttle position and MAF sensors; Bosch battery; Brembo brake discs and pads; and a headlining. The vendor now regards the V8 engine and four-speed automatic transmission as being in ‘excellent’ order, and classes the four-door bodywork, paintwork and upholstery as ‘good’. He is now selling the XJ complete with original toolkit and a huge history file containing: full service record comprising 14 stamps from a mix of main dealers and marque specialists, Heritage Certificate, original book pack, full details of the car’s maintenance history, extensive selection of receipts and old MOT certificates, plus a current advisory-free one valid to February 24 next year.

Recognising that the boxy lines of the XJ40 could do with a facelift, Jaguar allowed designer Geoff Lawson to adopt a somewhat retro path for the X300 Series XJ6. This line was revised for the last time in 1997, at which point new, much-praised, Bridgend-built V8 engines replaced the previous six-cylinder ones – enter the XJ (X308). The normally aspirated versions of the new units were available in 3.2 and 4.0-litre form. Most other aspects of Jaguar’s handsome flagship were also an improvement on those of its predecessor – the silky-smooth ride in particular winning many plaudits. From September 2000, the XJ8 was rebadged XJ Executive, the standard equipment of which included rain-sensing wipers, CD player, cruise control and rear parking sensors. The output of the 3.2-litre engine version was 240bhp.

In summary:

  • Most recently the pride and joy of a Jaguar Driver’s Club member
  • A 51,034-mile, nine keeper example with huge history file
  • Comes complete with full service history and current MOT
