November 2021 Classics Auction

  Lot 87

1999 Aston Martin V8 Coupe
V80 AML is build No.79 of only 101.

Registration - V80 AML

Chassis No. - SCFDAM2S9VBR79079

M.O.T. - August 2022

Odometer - 42,250

‘V80 AML’ is the epitome of what we enthusiasts will mourn so dearly when the automotive world finally goes all-electric. In almost as-new condition throughout and with just 42,250 miles travelled courtesy of six keepers, it is a truly pristine example of 1990s craftsmanship. Number 79 of just 101 such V8 Coupes made, it’s alone in boasting a factory-fitted SAT/NAV and is believed to be the only Aston Martin of any description to be finished in Montrose Blue. The luxurious interior is a glorious blend of cream and blue Connolly hide upholstery, burr walnut wood trim, and blue Wilton carpet. The Coupe was first registered in September 1999 by Grange Aston Martin and retained by them as a demonstrator until sold to Mr Peter Bond the following August. He retained the car for two years, at which point tenure passed to a Mr Jonathan Durden. The present keeper has also retained the Aston for two years.

Its indicated mileage is totally supported by an excellent service history that comprises 12 stamps courtesy of either main dealers or reputable independent specialists. The last two bouts of maintenance have been carried out by AML Performance (Macclesfield). A mere 1,500 miles have been accrued since and concerned a trouble-free tour of Scotland’s North Coast 500. In describing this lovely motorcar, the vendor notes that the exterior is free of scratches or corrosion, while the interior exhibits no scuffs, creases or tears – just a light patina of age. The six-spoke alloy wheels are understood to be unmarked and the tyres to have ample remaining tread, while the lusty 5.3-litre V8 is said to ‘pull like a train with perfect oil pressure and water temperature, and no oil or water leaks’. This fine automatic GT car is now offered complete with an upgraded Garmin ST/NAV; Sony audio system with Bluetooth/USB and AUX connectivity; and a current MOT valid until August 22 next year. A rare opportunity to acquire such a splendid example of one of the last of Aston Martin’s hand-built models.

In summary:

  • A notably well-presented example of a low volume model
  • Just 42,250 miles and six keepers from new
  • Excellent service record
