November 2021 Classics Auction

  Lot 90

1980 Ford Escort 1.3L

Registration - TBC

Chassis No. - AK60444

M.O.T. - Exempt

Odometer - 98,000

This tidy four-door MKII Escort has been recently imported from the dry, largely rust free climate of South Africa. The bodywork is finished in the unusual combination of white over cream that’s teamed with brown/beige interior trim. The Escort currently registers a credible total mileage of 98,000 kilometres and is considered by the vendor to have ‘good’ 1300cc ‘Kent’ engine, four-speed manual transmission, bodywork, paintwork and upholstery, and he further informs us that the Ford ‘drives fine, with good power’. The car is now offered complete with tow pack, radio/CD system and rides on an attractive set of Escort Sport wheels.

The Ford Escort is one of the motor industry’s longest running success stories, with over 4.1 million examples of the model being sold over a period of 33 years, and it was frequently Britain’s best-selling car during the 1980s and 1990s. The second of the six generations was ushered in in 1974 and reigned until 1980, making the sale car one of the last of the breed. Much squarer in shape than its predecessor, it was offered in the four guises of two and four-door saloon, estate and van, and in various levels of trim and performance. Versions of the MKII were manufactured or assembled from CKD kits in England, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Israel, New Zealand, Holland and South Africa.

In summary:

  • Recently imported from the dry climate of South Africa
  • Rides on a smart set of Escort Sport wheels
  • Comes complete with tow pack and radio/CD system
