The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 90

1993 Toyota Celica GT-i 16 Liftback

Registration - K633 RLC

Chassis No. - JT164STJ200126657

M.O.T. - May 2024

Odometer - 147,000

When did you last see one of these – certainly in such very presentable condition, despite having had eight keepers who’ve amassed a total of 147,554 miles between them? Well, much of the answer probably lies in the amount of time and money that’s been invested in this very pretty Celica in the last 18 months. This has apparently included a complete repaint, wheel refurbish, a cambelt change and head skim for the 2-litre engine, the installation of a new exhaust system and a full service. The vendor, who’s owned the Toyota since August 2021, rates the black cloth interior highly, which he says ‘only suffers from slight wear of the driver’s seat bolster’, and he informs us that ‘there is no rust on the body’. In summary, he presently grades the five-speed manual transmission as ‘excellent’ and the twin-cam four-cylinder, hatchback bodywork and upholstery as ‘good’. ‘KG33 RLC’ is now available for sale complete with its factory-fitted radio/cassette player, a large collection of receipts, the car’s original book pack, and a current MOT certificate valid to May 2 next year.

The name Celica is derived from the Latin word caeles, which translates as heavenly or celestial. Toyota included a Celica in its model line-up from 1970 to 2006, during which time there were no less than seven generations. The sale car hails from the fifth iteration, which reigned from 1989 to 1993, making ‘K633 RLC’ one of the last of that line. Being a European specification example, it is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-cam engine of some 158bhp and 137 lb ft of torque – sufficient output for an entertaining level of performance.

In summary:

  • A very well-presented example of a relatively rare breed
  • Has been repainted and refurbished in the 18 months
  • Comes with lots of receipts, book pack and current MOT
