  Lot 91

1984 Land Rover Defender 90

Registration - B773 MDG

Chassis No. - SALLDVAC7AA215821

M.O.T. - September 2021

Odometer - 168,000

First registered in October 1984, this notably smart normally-aspirated diesel Land Rover is finished in cream over blue and rides on new cream-painted wide rim wheels shod with equally recent Insa Turbo DAKAR off-road tyres. The interior features white stitched black half-leather seats and a new roof lining complete with audio speakers. The load bay contains a double-locked security box and is finished off by a black Exmoor Trim tonneau cover. The Landie has been the subject of plenty of repair and maintenance in recent times, which has included: an engine rebuild at 157,000 miles (ie only 11,000 miles ago) and a cam belt change a mere 1,300 miles ago. The receipt for the engine work plus a respray and power steering conversion totalled £6,200. Other parts recently replaced have included the chassis cross-member, fuel tank, battery and spare wheel carrier. The vendor now considers the bodywork, paintwork, and interior trim to be in ‘excellent’ condition, and the engine and 4x4 transmission to be ‘good’. The Land Rover is now offered for sale complete with a selection of receipts for the work carried out and a current MOT valid to September 30 this year. The odometer currently registers 168,000 miles.

The ubiquitous and much-loved Defender was produced from 1983 to 2016. It was a direct descendant of the original Land Rover launched in 1948 and, though it retained its ancestor’s rough, tough go anywhere qualities to the end, it also became a cult vehicle for a new breed of enthusiast who demanded a level of King’s Road chic and creature comforts never previously envisaged. Production may have ceased but demand continues unabated.

In summary:

  • A very smart example of a much loved classic
  • Lots of recent maintenance
  • Comes complete with double-locked gunbox
