November 2021 Classics Auction

  Lot 91

1993 Porsche 964 Carrera 2
An absolutely stunning example very desirable addition to any collection

Registration - K237TJE

Chassis No. - WP0ZZZ96ZNS404807

M.O.T. - Jan 2022

Odometer - 99,900

It is hard to credit that this truly stunning 964 was declared Cat D back in 2002, as a result of nothing more than minor damage to the front wing. Now, following a superlative 20-month rebuild costing in excess of £27,000, the Porsche appears as good as new and the Cat D designation has quite rightly been officially removed from its record. ‘K237 TJE’ was part of massive 30 car collection when discovered in lightly damaged condition and purchased by the vendor. He then embarked on the no-expense-spared total restoration. The 964 was treated to a glass out respray in blue, before being painstakingly rebuilt. The list of genuine Porsche and other parts used is seemingly endless and includes: brake lines; Powerflex bushes; suspension top mounts; fuel pump; starter motor; oil cooler and cowling; windscreen; rear lights; rubber seals; and air conditioning condenser. Additionally, the steering rack was refurbished and the 16” Porsche Cup wheels replaced by 17” Cup 1 alloys shod with new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The fitment of H&R springs gives the car a notably purposeful stance but apparently comfortable drive. The seats headlining and carpets survived the period of storage unscathed and remain in ‘remarkable condition’, while the instruments have been refurbished by Reap Automotive ‘and now look amazing’. Treated to a 24,000-mile service, this pristine Porsche is now offered complete with MOT valid to January 24, 2022.

Penned by Benjamin Dimson, the 964 was manufactured between 1989 and 1994. Autocar’s performance figures for the manual gearbox version were 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 158mph. The total number of 964s produced was 53,180.

In summary:

  • Almost £30,000 invested in restoring the Porsche to pristine condition
  • Comes complete with fully stamped service book
  • Previously part of a huge collection of sports cars
