Spring 2021 Classics & Collectables Auction

  Lot 91

1994 Mercedes-Benz E220

Chassis No. - WDB1240222C171514

Registration - M59 GBB

M.O.T. - April 2022

Odometer – 135,306

Properly maintained, Mercedes-Benz products have a habit of clocking up the miles without fuss. This 135,000-plus mile 2.2-litre petrol-engined E220 would appear to be very much a case in point. It is apparently totally original apart from the installation of an upgraded DAB radio with Bluetooth and integrated hands-free phone system, and the fitment of a set of refurbished, period-correct S Class alloy wheels. The vendor informs us that the Benz ‘drives beautifully’ and that its Smoke Silver bodywork ‘is straight and the only signs of rust are small spots on the boot and the offside rear wheelarch, while the rear bumper has a small crack in each corner’. The underside has been waxed against corrosion and he regards the beige cloth interior as ‘immaculate’ and says the electric windows and sunroof ‘all operate perfectly’. He is now offering the E Class for sale complete with a comprehensive service history, that includes a service book with 13 stamps and lots of receipts for work carried out. These include that for a major service as recently as September 2020 and confirm over £2,000 has been spent with a marque specialist over the last seven years. The folder also contains a receipt for the wheel refurbishment and an MOT valid into April 2022.

Now in its fifth generation, the Mercedes-Benz line-up of executive E Class cars dates back to 1993 and the facelifted version of the long-running W124 model. This was offered until 1995, when it was replaced by the larger, W210 E Class range. Versions of the W124 were available in saloon, coupe, convertible and estate car guise, and with a wide choice of petrol and diesel engines.

In summary:

  • A seemingly very presentable E Class saloon
  • Comes with a number of desirable upgrades
  • Good service history
