The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 92

2002 Subaru Forrester STI

Registration - ME02 URJ

Chassis No. - SF5-166688

M.O.T. - August 2024

Odometer - 46,305

‘ME02 URJ’ is a facelift first-generation model Forester that’s powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine. It was imported by Bespoke High Performance (BHP) and first UK registered in November 2021, since when it has been in the care of the vendor. It is finished in silver, trimmed in attractive red-stitched blue fabric and rides on Rays gold-coloured, five-spoke alloy wheels. The vendor reckons the Subaru was very well looked after while in its native Japan, and presently grades the engine, automatic transmission, bodywork and upholstery as ‘excellent’, and the paintwork as ‘good to excellent’. He informs us that as recently as 2022 the car was fitted with a cat-back Cobra Sport exhaust system. It also features a turbo timer and Alpine infotainment system complete with remote control. The odometer currently registers an eminently reasonable total mileage of 46,305 and the Forester is now being offered complete with full Japanese service history and a current MOT valid to June 8 next year.

Now in its fifth generation, the Forester was introduced at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show and entered production two years later. It is regarded as one of the first crossover SUVs, though could also be viewed as an estate car with taller than average stance, and was summed up by the company’s advertising slogan as ‘SUV tough, Car easy’. Built on the platform of the established Impreza, it was created to challenge the likes of Toyota’s RAV4 and Suzuki’s Grand Vitara.

In summary:

  • A JMD example imported to the UK in 2021 by BHP
  • Seemingly a 46,305-mile example with one UK owner to date
  • Comes complete with Japanese service history and a long MOT
