Registration – YKA402W
Chassis No. – 83955
M.O.T. – Exempt
Odometer – 18,500
There are fewer than 250 Marcos models on UK roads, and this is an ideal opportunity to own a beautiful Marcos Martina, presented in a deep cherry red with cream leather upholstered cabin. Based on a 1981 Ford Cortina, this example of the Marcos Martina Convertible uses Cortina chassis and running gear. Fitted with a 2.0-litre Ford Pinto engine and four-speed quick shift Ford Type E gearbox, the Marcos features Wilwood four-pot brake callipers at the front, adjustable coil over shock absorbers, and stainless-steel exhaust. Recently benefiting from a gearbox rebuild and full service, ‘YKA 402W’ has had an oil, coolant, and brake fluid change, as well as a new battery, all with documentation. The vendor describes the engine and transmission as in ‘good' condition, the electrics and interior as ‘good’, and body and paintwork as ‘average’. ‘YKA 402W’ comes with an indicated 18,500 miles on the odometer, and was purchased by the current keeper from Marcos Heritage more than ten years ago. Registered as an Historic vehicle on the V5C, and therefore zero-rated for road tax, it is also MOT exempt, but nevertheless carries a current MOT to 21 June 2024.
Launched in 1991, the Marcos Martina was designed to be a more accessible model from the firm, based on the underpinnings of the Ford Cortina. This is why it looked similar to the Marcos Mantula, though with flared wheel arches to accommodate the wider steering rack of the Cortina. Built between 1991 and 1993, the Martina was originally offered either as a kit car or factory-built model, though all Martina models were factory-built from 1992 onwards. Only around 80 models were produced in total.
In Summary:
· Gorgeous example of a very rare British sports car
· Fitted with a 2.0-litre Ford Pinto engine and Cortina running gear
· Only 18,500 miles indicated on the clock
