  Lot 94

1965 Land Rover Series IIA

Registration - FAW 63C

Chassis No. - 241-23772-B

M.O.T. - May 2022

Odometer - 89,885

This ex-military pertrol-engined Series IIA was the subject of a previous refurbishment and is described the by the vendor as ‘a very usable example which drives very well’. He says the bulkhead and chassis are in ‘excellent’ order and believes the latter was probably replaced at the time of the restoration, along with the footwells. He is equally complimentary about the seats (three up front plus two benches in the rear) and also the canvas tilt. Purists will be pleased to note that such details as the separate wiper motors, steering wheel, horn push and bonnet-mounted spare wheel are correct for the model concerned. With regard to the body, he describes the panels as ‘straight’ and the doors ‘good’, aside of some minor bubbling at the bottom of the driver’s one. Finished in Bronze Green that’s paired with a beige tilt, ‘FAW 63C’ certainly looks as a period Landie should, and comes complete with a heater (they often don’t!) and current MOT valid to May 12 next year.

By the time of the Series IIA of 1961-1971, Land Rover production was at its all-time peak of over 60,000 vehicles per annum. The model is considered by many to be the most durable of all Series variants.

In summary:

  • The subject of an early restoration
  • Apparently in very good order throughout
  • Comes complete with heater
