An Auction of Classic and Performance Cars and Motorcycles

  Lot 94

1987 Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera Sport Cabriolet
Desirable late-production model, G50-equipped and full-service history

Registration - E383 DMB

Chassis No. - WPOZZZ912H5151315

M.O.T. - No M.O.T.

Odometer - 122,202

The well-presented convertible offered here is a pleasingly original and unmolested example that boasts a full service history containing the stamps of main dealers and marque specialists up to 122,165 miles – the last entry having been made as recently as 37 miles ago. A manual model featuring the desirable G50 gearbox, ‘383 DMB’ matches white bodywork, a black hood to blue pinstriped cloth interior trim and rides on a very tidy set of black-centred Fuchs alloy wheels. We understand the brake calipers were replaced at the time of the last service, and the vendor now rates the cabriolet bodywork and paintwork as ‘excellent’ and the flat-six engine, five-speed transmission and upholstery as ‘good’. He is selling the seven-keeper Porsche complete with its original under-bonnet build sticker, the aforementioned (replacement) service book, owner’s manual and a selection of invoices.

The world is currently celebrating the 60th anniversary of the apparently immortal Porsche 911. Considered by some to be a triumph of engineering over design (bearing in mind its abnormally rearward weight bias due to the positioning of the engine), it has been the subject of ceaseless development and remains the yardstick by which all other performance coupes are judged. Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the Carrera 3.2 model made its debut at the 1983 Frankfurt Salon – bringing the hallowed Carrera name back into use for the basic car rather than just the halo models. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer wore a revised front valance complete with auxiliary driving lamps and a subtle Carrera script on its engine lid. Its 3,164cc flat-six engine developed 231bhp and, when allied to five-speed manual transmission, proved capable of sprinting the new Porsche to 60mph in 5.3 seconds.

In summary:

  • A notably well-presented seven-keeper, 122,202-mile example
  • Comes with fully-stamped (replacement) service book
  • Benefited from a service and caliper replacement just 37 miles ago
