November 2021 Classics Auction

  Lot 94

2000 BMW 330D Sport Saloon

Registration - X188BAU

Chassis No. - WBAAL92020AH63323

M.O.T. - November 2022

Odometer - 62,408

This decidedly handsome BMW 3 Series saloon is finished in metallic blue, trimmed in a contrasting shade of grey leather and rides on a refurbished set of period-correct multi-spoke alloy wheels. A clearly clean example of the breed, ‘X188 BAU’ has had just two keepers from new, the most recent of whom acquired the car in 2003. For the last eight years it has apparently resided in dry storage and has only just been treated to a new set of brake discs and pads. The vendor presently views the straight-six diesel engine, automatic transmission, bodywork and paintwork as ‘excellent’ and the upholstery as ‘good’. He is now offering the car for sale complete with a full pack of owners’ manuals, selection of service invoices, service booklet containing four stamps, two keys and a current MOT valid into November next year.

The E46 has for many enthusiasts proved to be the cream of an excellent BMW crop, and good examples are increasingly keenly sought. The fourth generation of BMW’s all-conquering 3 Series model, it was produced from 1997 to 2006 and offered in saloon, coupe, estate and convertible guises and with a range of engines from 1.6 to 3.0-litres. For many, the go-to unit was the silky smooth 3.0-litre diesel, that in year-2,000 form delivered 181bhp and a healthy 288 lb ft of torque – sufficient to combine lively performance with a very acceptable level of economy.

In summary:

  • A very clean example with only two keepers from new
  • Dry stored for the last eight years
  • Only just treated to new brake discs and pads
