The Gold Cup Classic & Performance Car & Motorcycle Auction

  Lot 95

2004 BMW M3 Convertible

Registration - LN54 VCK

Chassis No. - WBSBR92030PM96539

M.O.T. - July 2023

Odometer - 82,973

Of all the great BMW M cars, the E46 M3 has remained among the most admired, and good examples of both the coupe and convertible are keenly sought by enthusiasts of the marque. This is an all-black SMG transmission example, whose lustrous Carbon Black paintwork is paired with an all-leather black interior and black electrically-operated hood. The car rides on period-correct BMW polished alloy wheels shod with Michelin Pilot 4 tyres. The M3 is notable for only having had three keepers to date, the previous one of which retained the car since 2014 – their collective mileage currently stands at 82,973. The vendor presently rates the straight-six engine and automatic gearbox as ‘excellent’, the bodywork and paintwork as ‘good’ and the upholstery as ‘average’. He is now offering the convertible complete with partial service history and a current MOT that’s valid into July of next year.

Now in its sixth generation, BMW’s 3 series range is an automotive phenomenon and unique among the world’s executive expresses. Since succeeding the company’s 2002 model in 1975, it has generally accounted for 30 per cent of BMW’s annual car sales, is the bestselling car in its class, almost as well known in America, Asia and Australia as it is in Europe, and has frequently outsold much cheaper rivals. There has been an M3 version of every generation, the E46 version of which was produced from 2000 to 2006. Its silky smooth naturally-aspirated 3.2-litre straight-six engine delivered a healthy 338bhp at 7,900 rpm – sufficient to whisk the four-seater to 60mph in around 5 seconds and on to an electronically-limited top speed 155mph.

In summary:

  • A fine-looking example equipped with SMG automatic gearbox
  • Just three owners and 82,973 miles from new
  • Comes with some service history and MOT into July 2023
